We'll help you continue on a path of learning!
I have a Master's degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Recreation Studies (Recreation Therapy). I am also trained to the phase 2 level in the Neursequential Model of Therapeutics and Advanced level in Naturual Lifemanship.
Focused on providing an environment where you will feel safe and valued, Leah Gudbjartson is a registered social worker in Manitoba offering therapy services in the areas of trauma and mental health, clinical planning assessments, consulting and educational workshops. Working with people of all ages and abilities, Leah is experienced in helping children, individuals, families and groups.
Leah was first trained in therapeutic recreation before becoming a social worker and worked with children and adults with disabilities in a variety of recreational type settings - which included animal work and sensory integration techniques. Leah then worked for over ten years with families, which included several years in the front lines of child welfare investigating and assessing the impact of trauma. In addition to animal-assisted private practice, Leah continues to work in crisis services for mental health, and as an instructor and field liaison for the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Social Work Distance Delivery Program.
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy time with my family and my animals. I also enjoy creative activities such as painting and art.
