About Me
My Background
I have a Master's degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Recreation Studies (Recreation Therapy). I am also trained to the phase 2 level in the Neursequential Model of Therapeutics and Advanced level in Natural Lifemanship equine assisted psychotherapy.
My Experience
Focused on providing an environment where you will feel safe and valued, Leah Gudbjartson is a registered social worker in Manitoba offering therapy services in the areas of trauma and mental health, clinical planning assessments, consulting and educational workshops. Working with people of all ages and abilities, Leah is experienced in helping children, individuals, families and groups.
Leah was first trained in therapeutic recreation before becoming a social worker and worked with children and adults with disabilities in a variety of recreational type settings - which included animal work and sensory integration techniques. Leah then worked for over ten years with families, which included several years in the front lines of child welfare investigating and assessing the impact of trauma. Over her 10 + years in mental health, Leah has held various poisitions , including crisis clinician, clinical specialist, director, private practice counsellor and trainer. Since 2013, she has been instructor and field liaison for the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Social Work Distance Delivery Program. She now spends most of her time supporting mental health work for the FNIHB/ISC mental health counselling program.
About Me
When I'm not working with clients, I enjoy time with my family and my animals. I also enjoy creative activities such as painting and art.
